A Message from the Principal

Principal Appointment

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the many members of the school community (students, staff and parents) for passing on your con-gratulations, on my appointment to the Principal role at Montrose Primary School. I feel very privileged to be given the responsibility to lead such a wonderful school into the future. The process for this appoint-ment has been lengthy and very thorough. I would like to thank Bree Kuffer (School Council President), Adri-an Wilson (School Council Treasurer) and Glenn Storr (Staff Representative) for the time that they commit-ted to this process as members of the Principal Panel, alongside our Senior Education Improvement Leader (Dee DeKlijn) and Principal (Duncan Cant).

I really look forward to working with the children, staff and families of Montrose Primary School to pro-vide a school setting that values the development of the whole child, school and community connected-ness, and excellence and equity for every child.

Coronavirus
The direction from the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services, based on expert advice, is that schools remain open. Behind the scenes we are working busily to prepare a ‘Remote Learning environment’ in the event that we are forced to close at some stage in the future. Our teachers have an additional workload at the moment providing both current classroom instruction and also preparing for remote learning. As a result, should you choose to keep your child home prior to any school closure, we will be providing a generic outline for home learning with links to a number of resources. This will be emailed home to families today. We only have a small number of families choosing to keep their child/ren at home. We only have 6 days remaining of term and I envisage that our school attendance will continue to be high over this time.

Our school days are operating normally with additional measures in place to support good hygiene and to limit large gatherings. The excellent learning programs in the classrooms continue and both children and staff are engaged in typical school days. Maintaining as much normality in times like these is valuable for everybody’s wellbeing.

Grade 5 Camp
Adam Benner is currently investigating and making arrangements for the Grade 5 camp to be rescheduled to Term 4.

A reminder that our newsletter is now distributed on a fortnightly basis.

Kind Regards
Kylie Fisher
