A Message from the Principal

A message from our School Principal, Kylie Fisher

Dear Montrose families,

Well things are moving at a really fast pace in all schools around the state, as we focus our energies to fitting in as much as possible in a confined timeline. Teachers are busily focussing on providing as much literacy and numeracy learning as is possible alongside a focus on student wellbeing through our Resilience Project work. Our Prep Transition is going extremely well with our kinder students able to be onsite in small groups meeting our Prep teachers and making new friends. Our plans are also well underway preparing a special celebration for our Graduating Class of 2020.

Over the next few weeks teachers will be collectively entering information into our Class Builder program to assist the generating of classes for 2021. A wide range of input including student, parent and teacher information is used to produce balanced classes. It is not possible to meet all requests, as inevitably there are conflicting pieces of information which make this not possible.

Our staffing profile is getting close to finalised and I would like to inform you of the following confirmed updates:

  1. Jennifer Tesselaar’s last day is today Friday 20th November, Amber Rickard will be taking over from her.
  2. Yuchen Ding finishes up with us at the end of the year and is expecting her first child in April. Yiheng Ma will be working fulltime at Montrose next year, taking all Chinese lessons.
  3. We welcome Katie Rhodes to our school next year as a graduate classroom teacher.
  4. Thomay Nicolau will be returning to the Physical Education role. Simon Orenshaw has secured a role at Donburn Primary School in Doncaster East.
  5. Dawn Nacha following temporary transfer is now returning to Kent Park P.S
  6. Veronica Papps is returning from her temporary transfer at Birmingham P.S
  7. Katherine Bolton was successful in securing an ongoing position at Woori Yallock P.S and will not be returning.

From the Office

All the latest updates from the MPS Office

Parent Opinion Survey

Thank you to all of the parents who submitted their Parent Opinion survey.  Your input is greatly appreciated.

Late Arrivals

Our Sentral kiosk is up and running again after a hiatus due to COVID.  Late Arrivals need to visit the office where children check themselves in via the kiosk.

Return of Loan Devices

If you had borrowed a device for Remote Learning and have not done so already, we ask that these are returned to the office ASAP.  Please send them in with your child and have them drop it to the school office so we can mark the device as returned.

Thank you!

Grade 6 Camp

Many families are able to use their moneys paid for Grade 5 Camp towards next year's Grade 6 Camp.  If this applies to your family, please contact the office by phone or email.

Collecting your children early - Process

If you require your children to be collected early from school, please arrive at the school office door and ring the bell.  We will then call your child's classroom and have them collected for you.

Please Note:  It can be very challenging to collect children at lunch play.  The times for this are:  12:45-1.30 for P-2, and 1.30-2.15 for 3-6.  If possible, lease endevour to arrive either before or after these times as it makes collecting your child much easier.

Last Day of School

Plese note - the last day of school is Thursday, 17th December, normal finish time (3pm or 3.30pm depending on year level).
