A Message from the Principal

A message from our Principal, Kylie Fisher

Hi All,

How lovely it is to be back to onsite learning following the snap lockdown. Our students have not lost a beat, resuming where they left off prior to the lockdown. We were very fortunate that our school photos were scheduled for this Monday and Tuesday and not a week earlier. It was wonderful to see the whole school together being photographed, this photo will be displayed in the main building corridor near the library once we receive it.

District Swimming

Well done to Mr Orenshaw and the squad of swimmers who competed at the District swimming competition last Friday.  We are very proud of your commitment and efforts on the day. We had high levels of success with many students now continuing on to Divisional level.

Mobile Phone policy

Just a reminder to families that any student with a mobile phone  or device with communication capabilities including smart watches with access to a cellular network and Bluetooth devices that can be connected to mobile phones to transmit information and enable communication, must have it stored in a locker during the school day. Locks for lockers can be purchased for $5 at the office and a secure locker will be allocated to your child following purchase of the lock. The lock is the property of the student when they leave the school.

The mobile phone policy is available on the school website at https://www.montroseps.vic.edu.au/page/116/School-Policies

Wellbeing Coordinator

Megan Levey has worked at Montrose Primary School as a Chaplain for several years. During 2020 with the COVID situation I appointed Megan into a Wellbeing Coordinator role for 2 days a week to extend our wellbeing supports.

This year we no longer qualified for Chaplaincy funding so Megan Levey has had her role as Wellbeing Coordinator extended and is working 4 days a week (not Wednesday). Megan is a qualified teacher who also has a wealth of knowledge and skill in the areas of wellbeing and mental health.  As a Wellbeing Coordinator Megan no longer requires parents’ permissions to see students as were the case for the Chaplaincy program.

Student Free Day -   Monday 1st March

A reminder to families that this coming Monday 1st March students do not attend school. Their Care will be offering a Student Free Day program for families requiring this service on the day.

Kind regards,

Kylie Fisher
Principal
