At Montrose Primary School, we believe that students learn best in mathematics when they are provided with time to work on challenging and authentic maths problems. The Launch Explore Discuss/Summarise approach is a research based, best practise model that is used regularly across all classrooms in our school. Within this model, students of all ages and abilities are provided with opportunities to develop important mathematical dispositions like working collaboratively, sharing their reasoning, and recording their thinking in organised and systematic ways. It is also the model that best allows students to develop their ability to engage with the critical Mathematical Proficiencies of Fluency, Reasoning, Understanding & Problem Solving.
